After the success of Adobe Generation I mentioned back in 2013/14, comes the successor, but this time it’s slightly different!
I participated (for a short time) on the App Design course as back then I was considering including app design and development within Media Production, either as part of the curriculum or at the very least, a series of master classes.
Sadly I din’t have time to complete to the course but I remember really enjoying the method of delivery as well as the subject area and real sense of community that became established by the participants. I was impressed by just positive everybody became and this was a huge motivational factor for me to step up my efforts and try to excel. This worked and I won the ‘Weekly Winner’ competition for Week 2 of course where the task was to design a basic interface and visual theme for our proposed ‘App Project’.
I was disappointed that I was unable to participate until the end but now, Adobe are launching Adobe Generation Professional, a series of 7 courses that follow a similar model to the previous set of courses except this time they are focusing on not just skills/software development, but also how you can implement what you learn into the classroom.
The 6 subjects covered are:
- Digital Imaging
- Games Design
- Graphics & Illustration
- Web Design
- Publishing
- Animation
- App Design
Once again I have signed up to everything with the intention of completing all courses (except maybe the first one).
I encourage all staff and students who see this post to engage with at least one of the courses to see how online learning is different from campus-based learning, and how we could adapt some of the methodologies to enhance our currently curriculum and teaching.
I will post my activities and experiences of the course(s).
